MFR - FAQs
Recommended treatment frequency and duration:

I will develop an individual treatment plan for you as directed by your individual needs after comprehensive evaluation.  Most commonly the sessions are scheduled 1 - 3 times per week.  Treatment duration is frequently 4 - 6 weeks long and sessions are often tapered as improvements are made.

What to expect in treatment sessions:

Encompass Therapy, LLC emphasizes one-on-one treatment sessions with a Physical Therapist.  All sessions are individually designed and are geared towards your goals and needs.  You are requested to wear loose fitting clothing as this is a hands-on technique that involves applying light pressure to affected areas of the body.  Each session requires immediate feedback from you as the technique progresses.  Patient education is essential as you may feel heat, cold, burning or sharp sensations that dissipate quickly.  Frequently, sensations will be felt at other locations within the body and accurate reporting of these will improve the therapist's ability to address the underlying causes of the original pain.  A typical treatment session will last approzimately 60 - 90 minutes.

What to expect between sessions:

Sensations felt between sessions are variable.  You may experience an immediate decrease in your initial symptoms.  You may feel relief of pain and a resultant increase in function.   Additionally you may experience an increased sense of relaxation and well-being.  Others may initially have an exacerbation of muscle soreness for up to the first 24 hours - often a result of the body realigning as a response to this technique.  This usually is followed by an overall improvement in symptoms and function as the body rebalances.

What to expect following the termination of treatment:

For most individuals, the termination of individual PT sessions occurs when the goals are achieved and/or maximal benefits have been obtained.  Education regarding posture, body mechanics, and an implementation of a home exercise program is critical in promoting long lasting results.  Continuance of the individually designed program will maintain positive results achieved in therapy.  Deviation from the recommendations may result in less that optimal longevity of results.
